Alabama - 10/6/03 to 10/9/03

Unfortunately, Monday morning we had to get two new tires for the van (steel belt showing on one front wheel). So we got off to a late start. Linda Riddle drove our van as far as the AL state line, and then we switched off until the limits of Tuscaloosa, where we were met with a police escort to a great reception with lots of people, including Charles Priest of the Alabama Head Injury Association, the Chairman of the United Way, the newspaper, brain injury survivors, etc. We had some rain, although it never got too hard for riding - we got soaked. It stopped just before coming into Tuscaloosa and nary a drop fell on the reception!
